As Strathmore grows beyond
what it used to be, I will be visiting various places within
Strathmore and provide you with a viewpoint, or critic's
view, of the feeling I get from the places I visit. If you
have a place of business in Strathmore and would like an
objective viewpoint of what the customer (being me) thinks,
you can request
a visit. However I will not tell you when I'll be visiting
and you'll never be aware that I'm there. In most cases,
people would never think by my appearance that I even have
the knowledge to create a site much less maintain one and
give objective viewpoints.

Pendelton
Interiors
Barry and I had the pleasure of visiting this
wonderful shop just before we headed out for dinner.
Pendelton Interiors is a bright, refreshing
addition to the Strathmore shopping experience. It's filled
with eye candy everywhere. Everything is contemporary, trendy
and perfect for anyone looking for giftware or something
unique for the home. It's obvious that owner Tammy hand
picked the inventory and has a flare for what is tasteful
and exquisite.
There is a wide selection of giftware, home
decor items, scented candles, clocks, glassware and picture
frames. There really is so much to see and had my budget
allowed it I probably would have redecorated my entire house.
There is something for everyone and something to fit every
budget.
Pendelton Interiors also offers custom window
coverings and picture framing. They have dozens of fabrics
and frames to choose from and offer installation of the
window coverings.
Tammy and staff were friendly, cheerful, ready
to help and offer decorating ideas. Tammy offered a greate
idea for our bathroom mirror which I can't wait to get started
on.
This is a business to watch.
With the trend today to turn our homes into comfortable,
warm and welcoming santuarys I see Pendelton Interiors becoming
a thriving Strathmore business.

I visited Triggers Laser Tag 07/03/08
Located where the Strathmore
bowling alley used to be just off the Trans Canada. Family
owned and operated by Ron, Carol, Melanie, Cody and Jesse.
Two words.. 'Holy Wow!' .. Normally I would aim this little
write up to the younger generation but after visiting, it's
not just for kids. Dad's, mom's, grand dads, grand moms
and more. Every age group could get in on this. Upon first
entering, you'll find video games which by the way you can't
play anywhere for the rock bottom price of 50 cents. At
the counter we found Ron and Carol at the helm running the
show. You couldn't find a nicer couple anywhere. After taking
a walk through of the arena area, the equipment and scoring
system was explained. Very high tech! All scores are monitored
at the front desk. You can see who's winning as it's being
played. For any parents that simply want to take the kids
to play, they have a separate room with a T.V. if you like.
So you won't have to miss that important hockey game being
played! You can book birthday parties, retirement parties,
team building outtings and the like. Another important note
that should be added is the gaming area is ramped, not staired
which makes this game available to anyone in a wheel chair.
At this time, be sure to take cash with you as they aren't
ready yet for debit. I have to commend all the effort that
went into the renovations to create the lazer tag atmosphere.
This is a job well done so get out there Strathmore and
support our local buisnesses, you'll be glad you did and
you'll have fun with family and friends doing it. Be sure
to click the image below for more information.

I visited Sobey's 06/30/08
This store is located in the
brand new section of Strathmore beside Wal-Mart, you won't
be able to miss it. Lets talk space. This store has an awesome
amount of space and covers just about anything you'd want
from a grocery store. It's VERY clean, organized and as
an added incentive to pay a visit, you'll find live crab
and lobster there! They have a wide selection of other fresh
seafood and you will find an extensive international cuisine
selection as well. I was impressed with the overall look
and feel of the store and smiled when the cashier cashed
me out and said "See you next week". LOL How did
she know? What more can you ask for.

I visited M & M Meat Market on 12/08/07
This store is located in the
brand new section built beside Wal-Mart, just across from
the new ATB Bank. My wife noticed M & M was there and
naturally we had to visit. This store is very impressive
as you'll find out for yourself as soon as you make your
way there. You'll find many varieties of meats, seafood's,
various fries, pre-cooked along with non-cooked burgers
(my favorite). They even have Won-Ton soup which my wife
loves. You'll also find full pre-cooked meals which all
you need do is heat up. There is a variety of chicken, sausage
and pork as well as a brand new Ice Cream freezer! Everything
is listed on an easy to read menu above the freezer units.
Even I was able to find what I wanted and more, and that's
saying something! I am very impressed with the price we
paid for the quantity of food we purchased. One other very
fine note to add to this store would be the owners, Brenda
& Robin. We had the chance to speak with them a little
and they are both quality people.
For anyone wanting meats, chicken,
sausage, seafood, fries and more, I would definitely suggest
going here first. Don't go when you're hungry! You'll buy
the store out.

I visited Music Centre Canada on 10/16/07
This store is located where
the old Radio Shack used to be, just up on the corner from
Gold Key Registry where the address is 239-3rd Ave. I had
wanted to check out what this store had to offer for a while
now and finally made it in there.
As soon as I was inside I was
impressed with the organization and the products they have
to offer. From the acoustic guitars to the electric guitars
to all the various drums and electronics. You'll find they
not only sell, but they also rent out for periods of time.
If you're buying there is also monthly payments which can
be made for items. If you're not a musician but want to
learn, they also provide lessons for as long or as little
as you want and they do take drop-in lessons. The people
running the store were a pleasure to talk to and were not
like your typical salesman which hound you until you either
buy something or leave. They let me browse at my leisure
which was a pleasure.
If you have any musical interests,
my opinion is this is the store to go to. I wouldn't hesitate
to return again.

I visited Dollarama on 6/9/07
This is a new store that is
located in the little strip mall beside Wal-Mart. It is
now open for business which is a pleasant addition to the
Strathmore business community.
The store itself is pleasing
to the eye and very neatly maintained. This however isn't
your ordinary Dollar Store. I found that this store also
has food items which are canned or boxed and cookies. You'll
find lots of gardening items including small fence partitions
for your flower beds along with the typical items you'd
expect at a dollar store.
Overall, I'd say this is a great
store to go shopping but don't let your wife in there too
often. She'll get carried away as mine did and still does.
One added note, be sure to carry cash in with you as this
is a cash only store.

I visited Wearhouse One on 4/28/07
This is a new store that is
located in the little strip mall beside Wal-Mart. It is
now open for business which is a pleasant addition to the
Strathmore business community.
The store itself is pleasing
to the eye and very trendy with it’s wooden floors
and funky music. The merchandise is nicely displayed and
caters to the youth. All the trendy stuff for the today
crowd is display nicely, cleanly and pleasantly. Don’t
let the name fool you, they are not just a jeans stores,
there is also a huge array of stylish tanks, tees, belts
and accessories for everyone. This is a very trendy store
geared towards teens.
Having said that this store
caters toward stick thin female teens who think thin is
in. This is a sad statement. If you’re above a size
8 this store isn’t for you.
It should also be mentioned
that I was in this store for at least 15 minutes and was
approached by the one and only employee to see if I needed
assistance. Personally, I love not being hassled by staff
but a lack of staff when I need to ask a question or have
a concern also irks me. I also wonder.. was I ignored because
of my age? Or was I given the space I wanted so I could
shop at my leisure? It was hard to tell because this store
was very busy with only one person on staff at the time.
Overall, I'd say this is a great
store to go shopping for cloth's for ages 15 to 25 .. Older
age groups may find something, but not a lot.
